Brings audio and video to life
1080i HDMI with high definition video upconversion
HDMI stands for High Definition Multimedia Interface. It is a direct digital connection that can carry digital HD video as well as digital multichannel audio. By eliminating the conversion to analog signals it delivers perfect picture and sound quality, completely free from noise. HDMI is fully backward-compatible with DVI (Digital Video Interface).
DTS, Dolby Digital and Pro Logic II surround sound
A built-in DTS and Dolby Digital decoder eliminates the need for an external decoder by processing all six channels of audio information to provide a surround sound experience and an astoundingly natural sense of ambience and dynamic realism. Dolby Pro Logic II provides five channels of surround processing from any stereo source.
12-bit/108MHz video processing for sharp, natural images
12-bit Video DAC is a superior Digital-to-Analogue-Converter that preserves every detail of the authentic picture quality. It shows subtle shades and smoother graduation of colors, resulting in a more vibrant and natural picture. The limitation of the usual 10bit DAC become in particular apparent while using large screens and projectors.

Customer Reviews

Need Home Theater? Buy this.
I have owned the product for over a month now and it is amazing. I bought it to hook it up to my computer and tv in my apartment and it does an incredible job. There is not a better home theater system out there for the price. It is by far the best deal available if you aren’t a spendthrift. I have heard home theater systems from many brands including a $4000 Bose system and the sound quality of the best systems out there is not worth the price difference. The speakers on the Philips unit have more than enough wiring so they will work in any room. The sound is very crisp and the surround sound is awesome. The only thing that does not completely satisfy me is the sub woofer. It provides sufficient bass, but I am used to driving in a car with two 12″ 800watt subs. For home theater sub it is still pretty good.

Great product, no questions
Alright, I am an audiophile and love to tweak stuff all the time to get a perfect setup. I have a lot of experience with car audio but not much with home audio. I knew when buying this product that it doesn’t have a lot of tunability on the EQ curves but it was cheap and everyone said it sounded good. I decided to give it a try. Well, I love it. It sounds great and I don’t have to always mess with a bunch of stuff to make it sound nice. It is also really easy to install. If you can’t install it, you are an idiot because everything is color-coded. I literally put the speakers where I wanted them and plugged them in to the right places and I was watching a movie. Very easy to use. I also like the hack so I can watch international DVD’s with no problems. I have connections in South America for certain movies and it is nice to be able to watch them on the DVD players. It looks good, puts out ample bass and sound great. I paid a total of $100 including shipping for this setup and I couldn’t be happier. If you can find one for cheap, definetely pick it up.

Works for me
This system sounds more solid than it looks. The subwoofer and the satellites are muscular for their size, the sound is clear and tight, with warmer bass than I expected. My iPod Nano docks happily, and I can control it fine with the Philips remote, with no setup. It isn’t very flexible, in terms of wiring, but if you just want to fill a room with good surround sound for minimal hassle, this is a great buy.
